And you know summer’s gonna come…

Here is a song for you. Here is the original.

In Memoriam: Samantha Jane Dorsett (Plan-it-X Records)

The dedicated fan community at Plan-It-X Records are reporting that label co-founder Samantha Jane Dorsett has passed away. Details are sparse at this time, but Sam recently suffered a 50-foot fall in Berkeley which resulted in broken bones and extensive spinal injuries. Earlier this year the Plan-It-X community released a benefit tribute to raise money for her recovery.

Dorsett (the “Sam” from the label’s slogan “In Sam We Trust”) co-founded the Plan-It-X in 1994 with Chris Johnston. She also released music on the label under the name Peanucle. Dorsett was credited as a founder of Boxcar Books and a member of the Long Haul Infoshop.

Our deepest condolences go out to Sam’s family and friends.

All we’ve got is each other.

In Sam We Trust.

Punkers, Too! (not The Reconing)

June 5th, 2009 | Posted by Avi

The Hard Girls have posted a music video PowerPoint Presentation for the song “Punkers, Too.” The video presentation dispenses helpful information about Punkers while dispelling popular misconceptions.

The song is from the San Jose band’s debut split CD with The Albert Square, recently released on Silver Sprocket!

The Silver Sprocket Bicycle Club is proud to present Andrew Jackson Jihad: The Pillowcase!

Snuggle with your favorite Andrew Jackson Jihadist, screen printed in actual size right on your new favorite pillowcase! If you get tired of touching, flip it over to sleep side by side!

We made a batch of 120 to start on high quality 180 thread-count pillow-cases.

Who knows how long they’ll last or if we’ll make more? Available for mail-order right here for just $14, and on tour soon from Andrew Jackson Jihad!

Send in your pictures of the pillowcase in action. Our favorites will get posted online.

Credits: This one was a big team effort. Eoin came up with the idea, Jessie made the sleeping caps, Elise wrote the words, Avi organized everything and took the pictures (using Brooke’s camera after smashing his, in Sacramento at Kevin Second’s coffee shop after hours), then Steve at Contagious Graphics did the color separations and screen-printing on oversized equipment he built by hand just for this project.

Coming soon: A split 7″ with Andrew Jackson Jihad and The Gunshy! They’ll be recording it together in Chicago as one big super-sized jam-band, holy crap I can’t wait!

Attaboy’s Gooberry is Almost Ready to Harvest!

May 26th, 2009 | Posted by Avi

Presenting our first collaboration with estimed indy artist Attaboy, the Gooberry is a designer plush measuring 12.5 inches tall, complete with pull-string voice box and squeakers!

Each Gooberry has been freshly picked from a secret Gooberry Patch before ripening just for you!

Like a newborn’s skull, their soft skin has yet to be fully formed, so a Gooberry is very impressionable and extra-sensitive to your each and every touch!

Please, please, DO NOT attempt to eat a Goobery, as they taste like strawberry whipped crème.

DO NOT pull a Gooberry’s string, as each pull, although wholly satisfying to you, brings the Gooberry that much closer to a most painful death.

*The first 45 talking Gooberries will be available exclusively at Attaboy’s “A Touch of Evil” art show June 13th in Los Angeles, CA, at the POV Evolving Gallery where folks can pick their own unripened Gooberry direct from the Gooberry Patch.

*A second batch is available direct through pre-order starting today, right here at Silver Sprocket (to be sent in July)

*A small amount will then be available at the Hi-Fructose booth at the Sandiego Comic-Con and then at select retailers.

A new catalog page now lists everything we put out!

And lots of new additions to the artist page!  Artists we haven’t even announced projects with yet!

What are we doing with Jesse Michaels? Attaboy? Andrew Jackson Jihad? The Gunshy? I’ll tell you later.

Brickfight Across America

April 28th, 2009 | Posted by Avi

Brickfight is one of the best punk bands you haven’t heard of yet.

Mitch Clem turned me on to them last year, and I eagerly agreed that we should put out a split EP with them and fellow pop-punk hero’s Shang-A-Lang.

Fifteen years later, Rainbo Records has lost shit, broken plates, forgotten about us, won’t return emails… But swears I’ll see the finished records “this week” (which they told me last week). Seriously, I’ve lost all hope, but will throw a big party once (if ever) these EPs show up at my door.

But you should throw a big party all May long, because holy fuck, Brickfight is going on tour!

You Look Great Today

My buddy Aaron Davidson designed this postcard to spread a little cheer.

Send it to those you love, just to make sure they know. Also great for discreetly handing off on the bus or flashing across a crowded bar. Printed on recycled paper with soy inks, just because. Get a pack of 5 right here for $2, and check out Aaron’s band, The Brilliant Red Lights (with lots of free music downloads!), and his blog, Brilliantism
