Everyday is getting awesomer and awesomer
Wednesday, July 8th, 2009Here is a summer song for you, All Summer Long by Phoebe Kreutz. This has nothing to do with Silver Sprocket at all, except for being how we feel about the world right now. May this be the soundtrack to all your days.
Why do we suck at updating this website? Whats keeping us so busy? I’m glad I pretended you asked! Here is a big huge update on EVERYTHING to stay relevant for a while.
We’ve had a ton of new releases these past few months, but they haven’t been getting into stores. This is because our old distributor decided to stop paying us for sales, so we had to stop sending them new records. Bad situation, $15,000 is a lot of food, though other label’s got ripped off a lot worse than we did… The good news is we are joining up with The Indipendent Label Collective, a brand new distribution company with our friends and heroe’s like Asian Man, Red Scare, Dr. Strange and Chunksaah.
OK, news that you might actually care about –
The Phenomenauts are heading out on their fifth headlining tour this summer, Opperation: Jumped Circuit, orbiting through the USA and Canada systems!

Main support will be San Francisco’s punk rock super group, The Re-Volts, fronted by Spike Slawson from Me First and The Gimme Gimmes plus members of The Swingin’ Utters, Dead to Me and One Man Army.
Tour dates are still being confirmed, check them out on The Phenomenauts MySpace page!
We’re releasing a full length solo record from Vic Ruggiero, front-man of The Slackers, entitled On The Rag Time.
It won’t be in stores until September 15th, but pre-orders will get sent in a few weeks! This album is mind numbingly awesome, Vic and grandma’s old piano. We made it a big fat digi-pack with a poster that has all the lyrics and drawings from Vic, definitely worth owning even if you are a music stealing jerk pirate!
Until then, get Vic’s split CD with Kepi Ghoulie that Asian Man just put out! And the Never Go Back Home limited edition 7″ that we just put out, on red vinyl!
Hey lets do something fun! I just made up a batch of these button packs with artwork by Vic Ruggiero from the upcoming full length CD.

Want a set? How about for $3? While they last!
And because we just can’t get enough, we are proud to present Rude Remix Revolution, a brand new collection of re-mixes and mash-ups from Big D And The Kids Table and djBC!
Fifteen new cuts, features Ben C of Sonic Boom Six, Blue Banshee, Paul Kolderie’s The Babysitters, dj BC, ATOM, Aber N. Stein, Babylon Party Machine, Scott Grella, Big D’s own Stovetop, and Bi Anal Ham Sandwich. For more info and videos, check out RemixRevolution.com!
Delux Digi-Pack CDs Shipping July 13th! First 100 mail-orders get an exclusive pin and signed collage note from the band!
By the way, DJBC also just put together a collection of Muppet mash-ups! Waka Waka.
We are making toys now!
We debuted Attaboy’s Gooberry a few weeks back at the POV Gallary in LA as part of his “Touch Of Evil” art show.

Creepy and adorible, The Gooberry is the first designer plush with a vibrating pull-string noise maker and squeakers!

We made 600 to start out, which were just dropped off on my parents driveway on giant pallets. My mom doesn’t seem angry about all my shit keeping cars from being able to park inside, though my dad seems confused about why I had them made in the first place.
We will have these from Attaboy’s Hi Fructose booth at the San Diego ComicCon, and then it will be selling to indy toy shops starting this August via DKE Distribution. Or you can mail-order right here!
The Andrew Jackson Jihad pillow-cases are going fast!
We should seriuosly be sponsored by an abstenence education campaign, these will keep so many kids from getting laid in ways purity rings never could.
The Jihad’s new full length, Can’t Maintain, is coming out this September on Asian Man, and being jerks, we got an early copy. Holy crap its amazing, their best songs yet, actually made to sound good like it wasn’t recorded in a bathroom. Get that, then their upcoming collaboration record with Chicago heroes The Gun Shy that we will be releasing this Fall.
We are making up a bunch of other AJJ merch right now, all of it equally retarded. Let us know in the comments about anything you want us to make exist, regular stuff like shirts or stickers or even like cowboy hats, we don’t give a fuck.
The Days of Future Past Nothing Nice To Say shirt was selling really fast, we had just a few left, then it stopped selling that fast. I don’t get it, but we don’t have many left at all, so now is the time if you want one if you want to get all kinds of laid at parties (what kind of parties?? -ed) and comic book conventions with your double-shot NN2S + X-Men reference! Buy stuff at the new in-house Mitch Clem store.
Mitch Clem is presently working on his next book, focusing on his My Stupid Life story-line this time, to be released soon by Reliable Press.

The Hard Girls just got back from touring Europe as part of Jesse Micahels new band, Classics of Love. I don’t have the Classics’ new record yet, but heard a stream on the Vinyl Collective website and must say that all of my hopes and dreams for this super-group have been realized.
Speaking of Jesse Michaels, we are going to be publishing his first Novella over these next few months! I’l tell you more about that later, it is still in the editing phase, a very fun, disturbing, thought provoking and hilarious story about love, yoga, heat… You’ll know when the time is right.
We will be announcing some west coast Hard Girls/Albert Square tour dates in just a bit, along with some new Hard Girls songs being released for free through our friends at Quote/Unuote!
Watch the video for Punkers, Too! if you haven’t yet, Mike made it in PowerPoint. And get their CD directly from us here!

The Pillowfights just signed the lease on the next era for San Jose fun punk rock house-shows at the newly christened PILLOW FORT! Danny just gave me a tour of this epic 3-car garage + basement + attic + vegan cinnamon-roll factory, jeepers this is going to rule.
They have lots of shows coming up all over the place, and a rediculous amount of mail-order going to Japan for reasons we can’t quite understand. Dear Japan, please buy us airplane tickets and give us places to stay, we would love to visit you. This goes for everyone in the world actually.
Dave and Sara-Jane from Ashtray are getting married!
These dorks bought the last Harry Potter book the day it came out while on tour with the Secretions, but since they could only afford one copy, they took turns reading it out loud to each other out in the van each night before bed.
Holy Fucking Cute right???
If you see someone in a white Silver Sprocket jacket, its Sara-Jane, she has the only one in existence.
I spent three days recently text messaging her by accident thinking it was my other friend Sara-Jane from San Francisco since they both show up the same way on my phone. Awkward!
The other Sara-Jane, from San Francisco, has been tagging up local bars with cute robots and Jason Webely quotes.

Jason Webley just celebrated his 11th anniversary with a big Seattle show that I really wanted to attend but didn’t have dollars for. Anyone coming through San Francisco with a time machine want to give me a ride?
The Blatz Cheaper Than The Beer EPs have finally showed up. We will get around to packaging them over the next few days, things have been so busy lately but I can’t wait any longer to get these in your stubby filthy nubs!
The New Trust just got back from an epic west coast tour with The Action Design. The Pteradon guys (and Hard Girls guys — what a funny phrase) just got back from touring Europe as part of Jesse Michaels new band Classics Of Love. I already talked about that. Get the split EP.
Fresh off the cover of Razorcake, Shang-A-Lang continues to have a shit ton going on with more upcoming EPs than I can count, appearances confirmed for all the tru punx festivals (San Francisco Is Doomed, North Park Awesome Fest, The Fest…), a full length on Fast Crowd, and…
Oh yea, a singles collection with us through Mitch Clem’s Face Palm Records!
We still have some of their split with Brickfight, first pressing on clear wax still, but going fast.
The Secretions just self-released their… (Fifth?) full length, Hot Greasy Meat Cheezy, on their very own Drool City Records. Featuring the smash hit, Eoin Is Smart And Charming, about our very own hair-styling maverick! Get it on Interpunk for ten bucks.
The Secretions’ west-coast summer tour just started, with The Bugs, a Queers side-project! Dates are online on the Secretions’ myspace page.
What else….
We’re going to San Diego CoimcCon! Its gonna be me (Avi), Eoin, Brooke, Caitlin, Danny and Adam, along with some surprises. Find us for free gifts. If you dont know us already, just look for a gang of obnoxious kids without any sleeves, probably dressed up like Home Movies characters.
OK This is crazy, Eoin and Brooke both had this thing in grade-school where (if I’m understanding correctly?) kids would take a dandelion and hold it under their chin, and if their chin or neck area turned yellow from the pollen, it meant they liked butter. WHAT THE FUCK?? What kid doesn’t like butter? Who cares if you like butter?
I have never heard of this ever in my life, have you? What sort of random weird kid shit did your crew do that nobody else has heard of? Leave a comment, tell me everything.
