In 2004, Big D and The Kids Table recorded “Wicked Hardcore Christmas” as a lark in a van while the band toured. This Christmas paean to victory, drinking, heavy Boston accents and holiday merriment in general was never officially released, though a popular video was made and it became an instant holiday classic with fans.
Fast forward to 2009. With help from dj BC, Big D’s resident remixer, we are pleased to present this remastered version of the classic Big D holiday tune as a CD single, with additional remixes from microhouse remixer ATOM underground Boston rapper Black ELement, to bring 3 fresh new takes on the now-classic drinking carol.
“Wicked Hip Hop Christmas” brings new rhymes on holiday partying from Black ELement in a fusion between humorous, intelligent hip-hop and an old-school Christmas music vibe; “Wicked House Christmas” re-imagines the original song as 4/4 trance-house on a dancefloor at 4am on Christmas Eve, while “Wicked Hallucinogenic Christmas” gives a distinctly trip-hop feel to the rollicking rhymes of Black ELement. Also features one clean version of “Wicked Hip-Hop Christmas,” for the kiddies and the radio. This makes the perfect gift or addition to your quirky Christmas music playlist.
