When Sissy picks up a lost flip-phone and follows the instructions from the stranger on the other line, she and Lola are flung into an investigation of a grisly crime. With each new phone call, the girls are dug deeper into a conspiracy that threatens their lives—and possibly their friendship. But with no way to escape the dreaded calls, the only way out is to unravel the mystery.

A YALSA Great Graphic Novels for Teens 2023 Book!
“Nate (Catboy) jams out a quirky and stylish supernatural mystery that still hits her sweet spot of slice-of-life friendship comics.”
“With irresistible artwork and eye-catching style, Hell Phone is a spooky, delightful ride that will leave you eager for volume two.”
“Benji Nate is a comics powerhouse who interprets the world through a totally unique kaleidoscope—Hell Phone is just the right mix of cute, cool, and freaky.”
While Sissy and Lola’s looks are street photography-ready, there are also no punches pulled with the bloody stuff. The fact that these things can co-exist, and that much of the latter occurs in broad daylight — barring a climactic nighttime grave desecration — makes it all the more eerie. It’s been a while since I’ve been so effectively charmed and creeped out by a comic, inspired to both turn all the lights on and update some Pinterest boards. More please!
